Argentina's Inflation Accelerated to 2.4% in November

The City of Buenos Aires reported yesterday an inflation rate of 2.4% for the district, above the 2.2% of the previous month. With these projections, Ferreres estimated in press statements that 2025 will end with a rise in the cost of living on the order of 30%. The dynamics outlined by the economist have already been observed by other consultancies, as verified by the Argentine News Agency. For example, LCG measured a 0.7% increase in food prices between November 26 and December 3. According to this calculation, inflation accelerated to 3.7% monthly and 4% in the point-to-point measurement. Buenos Aires, December 11 (NA) – Economist Orlando Ferreres stated that in the first week of December, inflation accelerated to 1.7% and threatens to mark a new acceleration. This Thursday, INDEC will publish the price variation for November, which would be above the 2.3% of October, mainly due to the incidence of services. By incorporating the variation observed in food consumed outside the home (2.0%), the general food indicator stands at 2.1%,” indicated the consultancy run by Marina Dal Poggetto. The preliminary report noted that “for December, general inflation is projected at around 2.3% monthly”.

“The data is still preliminary and is subject to modifications. Food still needs to add the increases in services, which in December were 2.8%, and that of fuels, which are updated almost daily. In turn, EcoGo observed an increase in food prices of 0.4% in the first week of the month, which represents a deceleration of 0.5 points compared to the previous week. “With this result, inflation in food consumed at home would reach 2.2% in December. December usually shows its own year-end dynamics, with higher consumption due to festivities that drives the general price level, while adjustments in regulated sectors (mainly transport) deepen that pressure,” the report concluded.
